One of the scariest feelings is when you are driving and one of your tires go flat. Take a deep breath and put on your hazard lights then quickly find a safe spot to pull over or a ramp to exit off the freeway.
The 3 Things You Need to Change A Flat Tire
- A Jack
- A Lug Wrench
- A Spare Tire
Keep these 3 items in your vehicle at all times.
- Turn your lug wrench counterclockwise to loosen the lug nuts. DO NOT REMOVE THEM. (Note: Lug nuts are tough to turn, will need to use extra force.)
- Check your user manual to find out where to place the Jack. Crank up the Jack to lift the flat tire off the ground.
- Remove the lug nuts off the tire and then remove the flat tire.
- Add spare tire and line up the holes where the lug nuts will go. Push the tire on the wheelbase.
- Add and tighten lug nuts with your hand and then the lug wrench until they are snug.
- Lower and remove Jack once the spare wheel is on the ground.
- Now really tighten the lug nuts on the spare tire.
This is the quick and safest way to get you back on the road. Remember, you need to make a service appointment as a spare is only for temporary driving.
